Passed 70-642 TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring

The frenzy is officially started. To ensure I am not wasting the 32% discount voucher, I have registered for the common paper for MCITP - Server Administrator and MCITP - Enterprise Administrator, 70-642 TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring.

To be the MCITP - Server Administrator, there will be 4 papers, other than 70-642, there are 70-620 (70-621 can be accepted), 70-640 and 70-646.

To get the MCITP - Enterprise Administrator, there will be 5 papers, 70-642, 70-640, 70-620 and 70-647.

Not easy, not easy at all. But when you complete MCITP - Server Administrator, normally you will say, must well complete the Enterprise Administrator as well, not much difference.

Let see if I can get this done sooner?

Passed 70-271 Supporting Users & Troubleshooting a MS Win XP Operating System

Just found that the 4 units of 32% off Prometric vouchers going to expire, in order not to waste the deep discount, I have registered to take the 70-271 Supporting Users & Troubleshooting a MS Win XP Operating System. However, I found that the voucher is not valid for this exam, but since I have prepared for it, so I just go for it.

Paid RM 300 for the exam and use the Second Shot facility provided I braved myself for the exam and it turns out I have passed the exam without problem.

70-271 is an exam for Windows XP, and I will need to take another exam, 70-272 before I can achieve a title called Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician, and take yet another exam, 70-621 to upgrade it to Windows Vista's Microsoft Certified Enterprise Support, which counted as a client exam for Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Server Administrator, as well as Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Enterprise Administrator.

Well, let see how long I will need to take to get these certification.

WinMount Utility

While surfing the net, I have come across a small little utility that can provide quite a great space saving and convinience especially when you are trying to open an archive, or CD image file.

If you have worked with archive files, you will know that you need to decompress the archive to a temporary location which will take some time depands on the size, before you can view the contents of the archive. If you want to keep both uncompressed and compressed version of the file on the hard drive, than you will need to allocate twice the space for it, besides that, you will need to have a decompression software like winzip or winrar in order to do so.

And if you have worked with CD image files, you will agree with me that most of the time you can only burn it to a CD before you can access the contents of the image, unless you have a software that can view the contents of the image directly, which is rather costly compared to a piece of blank CD.

If you can just keep a copy of the archive or image on the local hard drive and open it as and when you need, without too much time waiting and space wasting, than this software may be the answer to you.

What the software will do is to "mount" the archive or image to a virtual drive, meaning a space in your memory, and access the contents without decompression process or waiting time. You mount the file, and the next second, you can read the contents immediately without waiting for it to be decompressed to a temporary location.

For compressed files, it support .rar and .zip and other popular compression formats.
For CD images, can mount ISO, BIN/CUE, CCD, BWT, MDS/MDF, NRG, IMG, ISZ etc and play them.

Besides, you can also mount VHD, Microsoft WIM, WinMount WMT as a virtual disk;
and audio formats APE, FLAC, WV as a virtual CD.

In other words, beside your physical CD drive, you can have another 20+ drives ready for use as either virtual hard disk, CD Player, movie files and running virtual machine at the same time.

Cool? It is great!

To get it, visit WinMount. It costs USD 49.
